FAQ

I have footage on both region one and region two DVD's. Does this matter?
No, not at all. We can edit and duplicate from both PAL
(Phase Alternating Line) and NTSC (National Television System Committee) DVDs.

Can you produce DVD duplicates that are compatible to play in other countries?
Yes. In the UK DVDs are burnt using PAL. Although many other countries use PAL if you want your DVD's to be compatible in the USA and some other countries you will need to let us know so that we can burn them in NTSC.

How is a CD Business Card different from a regular CD?
Multi-shaped CDs work exactly the same as the regular CDs. They can carry all data formats that regular CD/CD-R carries. The only difference is that storage size is smaller. In this case 46.8Mb (enough for a CV, uncompressed voice demo, photo and compressed showreel).

Are CD business cards playable in any machine?
The CDs will work in just about any standard PC, MAC or laptop CD/DVD drive. In a standard drive the disc fits into an inner circular tray as the CD business cards themselves have a raised circular section on their underside which fits neatly into this depression. In a laptop drive with a prominent spindle that you push the discs directly onto, these discs work in exactly the same way as standard CDs. The orientation of the discs does not matter. They sit with the label facing upwards, just as with standard 12cm circular CDs. However these discs are not suitable for use in slot-loading CD drives, although these are fairly uncommon and will not normally be a problem.

What DVDs do you use?
We always use Grade A DVD-R discs for DVD production.

What does DVD-R mean?
DVD-R discs are recordable DVD media that can be written to only once. The discs can be written in standard DVD writer drives. The DVD-R format was developed by Pioneer in 1997 and is the most commonly used type of writable DVD (other types include DVD+R and the re-writable DVD-RW/DVD+RW).

Is a duplicated CD or DVD lower quality?
No. If we are copying a CD or DVD for you, we will make an exact digital copy. There will be no reduction in quality, unlike copying analogue video, e.g. VHS tapes. A digital copy replicates the data exactly; copying the digital information, thus making a perfect replica of the source disc.

How long do duplicates take?
Our duplication service is very efficient - we normally get your order out  within 48 hours. If however you need a priority same-day service let us know and we will do all we can to help.

Do you recycle DVDs and CDs?
Yes. Any discs that are wasted during production are sent off to our friends at Polymer Recycling be turned into other beautiful things. They use patented technology that allows 100% of the disc to be recycled without the use of chemicals. They have prevented well over 100m discs from ending up on land-fill. They have also been approved by FACT (Federation Against Copyright and Theft) to have attained the required security standards. Since their inception they have demonstrated an exemplary track record in security.

How much is postage for disc media?
All our orders are sent Royal Mail First Class Recorded Delivery unless other arrangements have been made with the client. The charges for postage and packaging are as follows: up to 10 discs £2, 10+ discs £3, 25+ discs £4.50, 50+ discs £6.50, 100+ discs £7, 200+ discs £8, 300+ discs £9, 1000+ discs £15.
