"I would definitely recommend Guy at Round
Island. The recording session was really relaxed but
productive and great value for money".

'Readiness is all'. We will
help and guide you but ultimately the choice of materials is yours
- we
want to offer you the best opportunity we can by
providing you with a voicereel that is totally
unique - if you use other peoples scripts then people
could have heard your tracks many times before. Finding
suitable material is not difficult though
and we'll tell you how. There are other benefits to
sourcing the material before hand - you will be familiar
with it, we
can concentrate on
recording you at the highest possible quality and you
can focus on your performance instead of what to read. Don’t learn the
pieces – just be very familiar with them. You’ll be
reading them live and will get direction support - we
have
years of experience and the fact that your session is
produced by a professional voice tutor means you can feel
assured that it will be a relaxed and comfortable experience
with just enough guidance. No experience of using a
microphone is needed – we take care of all of the
technical aspects - you just concentrate on delivering
your best performance of each piece. We’ll
record 6 pieces each of approximately 30 seconds long.
We’ll cover commercials through to drama, providing you
with options on how you would like these mixed. Remember we are looking to record
material that captures your essence as a performer and
whilst we want variety, stay clear of character voices
for cartoons etc. This is another area altogether but if
that is your interest
contact us
to see how we can help you. |

We will go over these in detail before during your phone consultation
but to give you some thing to start with try thinking about the
following in relation to your pieces:
What sort of product would use a male or female voice, what type
of voice have you got (brassy, breathy, clear, deep, fruity,
gentle, gravelly, light, melodious, metallic, nasal, reedy,
rich, silky, smoky, staccato, strong, warm etc) and what work
does that favour. How old is your voice (this might be totally
different from your actual age), your native accent, how you can
use that to your best advantage and whether or not you have a
penchant for a certain genre or style. Fluent second languages
can be a useful addition and we can record a track featuring
these if required. Below you will find a list of areas you may
want to look into. When applying these to your own voice always
be realistic, showcase what you do best and make sure what you
will be recording will be interesting to listen to. |
